The 50000 Series is a limited express-type articulated electric multiple unit designed by Odakyu for its Romance Car fleet.

Odakyu original planned for its EXE series of trains to become its new flagship but with public opinion not too positive, a new train was needed. The 50000 Series "VSE" (Vault Super Express) was designed to fill that need.

The VSE went back to the original style of articulated cars with elevated cabs and passenger seating at both ends. The body design though was completely different from the existing designs.

VSE trains are equipped with an onboard kiosk selling light snacks and in-ride meals are also served.

They are currently operated exclusively as Hakone and Super Hakone trains that connect Shinjuku and Hakone Yumoto Station.
